Beginning November 1, the environmental centers located at the head of each gangway will be closed. A sidewalk trash can will be placed at each location for the disposal of general hand trash only. Trash disposal service for marina customers will continue to be available at the 30-yard roll-off container located under the tent next to the Washdown Building in the Boatyard.
Trash Service Hours – Monday–Saturday, 1:00 p.m. –3:00 p.m.
Customers may dispose of one 50-gallon bag of boat-generated trash per day during these hours.
Trash exceeding one 50-gallon bag is the responsibility of the boat owner or marine trades business and must be taken directly to the Jefferson County Transfer Station. If the owner is unable to transport a larger load, the Port may provide disposal service at the owner’s expense, including applicable dump truck, labor, and tipping fees.
This change is being made to reduce orphan waste, unauthorized dumping, and misuse of the marina’s Environmental Centers that has occurred in recent years. Cardboard will be accepted at the trash drop site. Formerly recyclable materials (glass, tin, aluminum, plastic, and paper) will now be accepted only at the Jefferson County transfer station.
Trash that cannot be disposed of during the designated service hours must be taken home or delivered directly to the transfer station. Please do not leave trash at the gangways, former Environmental Center locations, or outside the roll-off container.
Hazardous waste is not accepted through the Port’s trash service. Hazardous materials must be disposed of through an appropriate Jefferson County collection event or other authorized disposal service.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep the marina, boatyard, and surrounding facilities clean and reducing improper waste disposal.
