This meeting will only be accessible remotely, as per Governor’s Proclamation 20-28.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a quorum of the Port Commission of the Port of Port Townsend may be present at the following event, but no Port business will be done.  The purpose of this meeting:

Three Upcoming Information Sessions on Running for Office
Sponsored by the Jefferson County League of Women Voters

 On March 2nd and March 5th,  the Jefferson County League of Women Voters (LWVJC) will present a series of Informational Interviews with county office holders on the day-to-day process of running for office and serving in office. All interviews will be broadcast live on zoom and archived online in video and print form as tools to support prospective candidates for public office.

The first session on March 2 at 2:30 pm will focus on the Port of Port Townsend Port Commissioners.

The second session on March 5 at 11:00 am will focus on School Board Elections, with representatives from Port Townsend and Chimacum.

The final session on March 5 at [4:00 pm – waiting to confirm] will focus on Port Townsend City Council.

During each information session, office holders will discuss why they ran for office, how they planned and ran their campaigns, and how they budgeted for campaign costs. They will also discuss their official duties and the time they require, and offer advice for prospective candidates. Per the requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act, no current, past, or future official business will be discussed in these information sessions.

Jefferson County’s 2021 candidate filing period opens May 17 at 8:30 a.m. and closes May 21 at 4:30 p.m. Complete information on filing will be available on the Jefferson County Elections website: https://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/1266/Elections
