Visitors to Point Hudson in the wintertime might be familiar with the “lake” that forms between the street and the waterfront, due to run-off that doesn’t drain properly.

Thanks to a partnership with Washington State University Jefferson County Extension, the Port  began work this week on a new rain garden that will address drainage in this area. WSU is helping to design the garden, which will feature a special mix of organics and plants to help filter run-off before it enters the bay.

This project should be completed in a couple of weeks; stay tuned for a detailed description of the rain garden.
