Yard Laborer
We are seeking a qualified candidate to work with the Boat Yard team. The Yard Laborer reports to the Yard Manager and is an entry level yard operations and customer service position assisting in guiding travel lift and other equipment and machines. Assists with hauling and blocking of boats, assists travel lift operators, acts as ground guide, performs duties such as checking traffic and signs and signals, cleans washdown slabs, pressure washes, removes sludge and debris, shop vacs, and cleans drains, picks up, maintains, stores, and constructs blocking materials, performs mowing and weeding, performs garbage collection and dump runs, develops boat yard and operator skills, and assists maintenance department, along with performing other duties as assigned
This full-time represented position with benefits has a starting pay range of $26.66 – $28.28 per hour (DOE/DOQ), full grade pay range goes up to $35.82 with opportunities for promotion. Full Time or Part-Time Temporary Moorage Clerk
The Port of Port Townsend is seeking qualified candidates for this position. The Temporary Moorage staff work approximately April/May through October. They report to the Harbormaster and are responsible for customer service duties at the port’s marinas and boat yard and will also be tasked with dock walks.
The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service and cash handling. Knowledge of MS software is necessary, and knowledge of the Port’s facilities, boating and related maritime activities is a plus. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
This is a seasonal full-time or part-time, non-represented position with a starting pay range of $19.00 – $22.00 per hour (DOE/DOQ). This is a full-time schedule that includes weekends with occasional over-time at 1 ½ pay. PERS eligibility based on length of term. Sick leave accrual at the rate of one (1) hour for every 40 hours of work performed.
We’d like to get this position filled before the season to get the candidate properly trained. Many staff have started their regular, full-time careers with the Port starting in these seasonal positions. Background checks are required.
