Port of Port Townsend Commissioners have selected three candidates as finalists for the organization’s Executive Director Position. The final candidate will succeed current Executive Director Larry Crockett, who is retiring at the end of May. Greg Englin, Sam Gibboney, and Josh Peters were selected from a group of 19 applications from throughout Western Washington.
On 9am on Friday, May 6, 2016, the Port will convene a public forum, where a 5 member panel selected by the Commissioners, will ask questions of each candidate. The public is invited to be in the audience at this forum, which will be held at the Port Commission Building, 333 Benedict Street in Port Townsend.
The panelists include Linda Hertzog, David King, Gordon Nielsen, Bill Putney, and Teresa Verraes.
A facilitator will start the meeting, briefly outline the format and rules of the forum and maintain the timely questions and responses throughout the forum.
Public Forum format:
- Candidate will have 10 minutes to present themselves to the panel and audience..
- After all Candidates have presented, the questions will commence.
- Each Panel Member will have one minute to ask a question.
- Each Candidate will have 3 minutes to answer each question.
- After each successive question, the next Candidate will have the first opportunity to answer first.
- There will be a 10 minute break midway through.
- The public is there as witness, but not to ask questions.
THE FINALISTS
Greg Englin spent 13 years at the Port of Seattle, and was Vice President of the Seattle branch of the Icelandic company Marel. He has a BS in Economics w/Mathematical Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Sam Gibboney is the Director of Environmental Resources and the Deputy Director of Public Works in San Juan County. She has a BS in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University, and a Masters of Public Administration at the University of Washington.
Josh Peters works for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, and previously worked for Jefferson County Community Development and Public Works departments. He has BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, and a Masters in City & Regional Planning from the University of Oregon – Eugene.
