Executive Director: Sam Gibboney

Sam Gibboney holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs. She served as Director of Community Development and also as Director of Environmental Resources for San Juan County, with responsibility for stormwater, solid waste and natural resource programs. She lived in Jefferson County for 20 years, and was the principal and owner of ISE Consulting for 13 years, providing project management, strategic planning, funding and communication strategies to government agencies and nonprofits. She served five years as a civil engineer for the City of Port Townsend and had stints at both Washington State University Cooperative Extension and Jefferson Land Trust.

 

Director of Operations & Business Development: Greg Englin

Greg Englin holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a Mathematical Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He spent 13 years at the Port of Seattle, and was Vice President of the Seattle branch of the Icelandic company Marel.  At the Port of Seattle, he worked across the entire portfolio of Seaport assets for both Maritime and Economic Development divisions. Additionally, he collaborated with cross-functional teams, resulting in development of real estate including the design and construction of a 62,000 SF manufacturing facility which was part of the Maritime Industrial Center initiative at Terminal 91. He was asked to lead the turnaround of the Maritime Operations business unit. This included the development of a strategic plan for Terminal 91 and subsequently the operational plan for that (200 acre) terminal and the outer harbor.

 

Director of Finance/Port Auditor: S. Abigail Berg

Abigail Berg holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from San Diego State University. Prior to the Port of Port Townsend, Abigail Berg worked for the Washington State Auditor’s Office (SAO) for eight (8) years, five (5) of which was as Assistant Audit Manager for SAO’s Port Orchard Office. Work at the SAO included oversight, review and performance of audits of financial statements, federal compliance and accountability of laws, regulations and policies for all types of local governments. Prior to working at the SAO, she served as Controller for Olympic Community Actions Programs in Port Townsend, and was Finance Director at a pension consulting firm in La Jolla, California. Her family moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 2002.

 

Executive Assistant & Public Records Officer: Sue Nelson

Sue Nelson has served as the Port of Port Townsend’s  Executive Assistant since 2001. She also serves on the Port’s Safety Committee. Prior to the Port, she spent 16 years in the travel industry working the wholesale travel and cruise line markets. She served as Assistant Editor for Alaska Milepost, and for three years was the flight dispatch and office manager for Part 135 Air Charter companies. Sue grew up in the high southern mountains of California, attending a one-room school in a Forest Service community. Time outside the Port is spent biking, hiking and anything outdoors.
